MPP students are engaged in a dynamic array of leadership initiatives at Public Policy at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy (formerly the School of Public Policy and Governance – SPPG). There are a number of co-curricular opportunities at the School for students to get involved.

Beyond the Headlines (BTH) is a one-hour current affairs talk radio show aimed at providing a greater understanding and thoughtful discussion of the various policy issues in our daily news headlines. BTH aims to take listeners beyond the immediacy of our daily news.

Ford + Munk

Ford + Munk Conference

The Ford+Munk Conference is a student-led policy conference that brings together the best and brightest future policymakers from both sides of the Canada-US border. Co-hosted annually between students from the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy at the University of Michigan and from the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at the University of Toronto, the conference provides a unique opportunity for joint exploration, discussion and analysis.

Gender, Diversity and Public Policy Initiative

The Gender, Diversity, and Public Policy Initiative (GDPP) promotes the adoption of an intersectional lens in policy analysis. GDPP is a graduate student-led organization at the University of Toronto Public Policy at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy and encourages the discussion of gender and identity-based inequalities in the realm of public policy in collaboration with SPPG student initiatives, faculty and administration, our alumni advisory group, and other networks within the University of Toronto landscape.

Indigenous Affairs Student Initiative

 

Indigenous Affairs Student Initiative

IASI is a newly-established graduate student-led initiative that aims to provide a platform to discuss Indigenous issues from a policy-focused lens. In conjunction with our Advisory Board, consisting of Bob Rae, Grand Chief Arlen Dumas and Professor Douglas Sanderson, we seek to promote awareness of Indigenous issues and encourage the enrolment of Indigenous students at the Munk School.

The Master of Public Policy Student Association (MPPSA) is the elected body representing MPP students. The MPPSA is committed to building community at the School through social and co-curricular programming, providing program support to the student body, and advocating for student interests.

Pii’s mission is to equip public policy students with the skills and experiences necessary to practice and imbue innovation in their academic studies and everyday professional work. Pii is committed to building a new generation of public policy professionals with enhanced capacity to address existing and future policy challenges that require ever-evolving, multi-disciplinary, and innovative thinking.

The Public Good Initiative (PGI) is the student-led pro bono consulting organization at Public Policy at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy. The PGI’s mission is to make a positive contribution to the policy capacity of the not-for-profit sector. We match our student consultants with community organizations looking to benefit from our policy- based consulting services.
