Peter is Senior Vice-President of Government Relations at Manulife Financial, and a Fellow at the University of Toronto’s School of Public Policy and Governance. He is the former Chief of Staff to the Ontario Minister of Finance and Premier. Previously he was the Vice-President of Communications, Government and External Relations at the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, where he played an important role in the profession’s success on a number of priority issues including modified proportionate liability, LLP legislation, civil liability for tax preparers and the creation of the CICA’s Impact CA Program. Peter was a key member of the team that developed and managed the profession’s response to the Enron/WorldCom situation, and was responsible for communications, government and external relations as well as income and commodity tax policy. Prior to this, Peter served as the Director of Government Affairs for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario, was the Ontario Government Representative to South Asia based in New Delhi, India, and worked as a special assistant to the Ontario Minister of Industry, Trade and Technology and the Minister of Tourism and Recreation. Peter is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario, and the executive program at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business.
